Amber Lort-Phillips
Amber has run The Big Retreat Festival in Pembrokeshire for the last 4 years which is an annual adventure and wellbeing festival hosting 3000 guests.
Please tell us about the project you want to develop, and why you would benefit from the training:
“Lawrenny Parks Retreats Ltd currently runs The Big Retreat festival and smaller “feel good” retreats at their sister company The Little Retreat. The business is passionate about connecting people with the natural world and helping them rediscover their sense of wonder, to benefit their wellbeing. All events take place in a high-quality destination where people come to 'Live, Learn and Play'.
Centred around a carefully curated space in an inspirational location, the business works with partners to deliver high quality, year-round events, classes and activities focused on physical and mental wellbeing, adventure, learning and entertainment. Due to the Covid19 pandemic, the Lawrenny Parks Retreats’ flagship event “The Big Retreat” has not been held for two consecutive years. Pre pandemic, the fast-growing festival was identified as one of the Guardian’s top 5 Adventure & Wellness festivals in the UK.
Historically the festival welcomed between 2,000-3,000 annually. The smaller events known as “Feel Good” Retreats have recommenced, offering a more intimate weekend escape for small groups, with instructor led sessions. They focus on physical and mental wellbeing, through activities and engaging with nature.
I haven't had any formal training in running events and believe this course would be very useful to me and the company.”
